Aol Fixes page 2

AOL software typically installs with a setting which will cause web graphics to download very blurry or distorted. Unless the setting is changed, many company logos, photo scans, backgrounds, etc. will appear to be of a low quality or even corrupt.  The process fix this problem should take 2 - 3 minutes to complete, but will make a huge difference in how you view the World Wide Web with AOL's browser.   Also, when you upgrade to a higher version of AOL software, the setting typically reverts back to the "problem setting".  It is important to repeat the process below each time you upgrade your AOL software.

Instructions below are for Windows 95 and Windows 98.  Mac users will need to contact AOL tech support @ (800) 827-3338 for instructions.

Step 1.   Click on "My AOL"

Step 2.   Click "Preferences"

Step 3.  Click  the "WWW" icon.

Step 4.  Click the Web Graphics tab at the top of the window, then make sure that the box that says "Use Compressed Graphics" is NOT Checked.  If it is checked, click the box to remove the check mark.  Click "OK" at the bottom of the window.

An important last note:

If you are re-visiting a page since making the changes, you may also need to clear your Internet Cache in order to view the images clearly.

Under AOL Internet Properties, click the "General" tab so that you are looking at a window like the one displayed here.  Click the "Delete Files" and "Clear History" buttons, then click OK

On some systems you may need to sign off of AOL, then sign back on before the changes take effect.

Another alternative is to download the latest version of    After you sign on to AOL, just open your Microsoft  browser to view the World Wide Web.
